DAY 34 FRI. NOV. 2 CUENCA - QUITO

We visited the Ethnographical Museum in Cuenca, which was a fine summary of the people and regions of Ecuador we have visited over the last three weeks. For a small nation, Ecuador is rich in diversity of people, flora, fauna and landforms. Pablo is justifiably proud of his home country. A short 40 minute flight brought us back to Quito. We enjoyed our last fine dinner in South America before departure day tomorrow at the stroke of midnight. Unfortunately, a nasty dose of Montezuma's Revenge has ruined my evening and sleep, so I think I'll miss tomorrow's final activity and rest up for the flights home. Lou will go on her own: I don't feel very good about leaving her to fend for herself, but she is more than capable of enjoying the last day in Ecuador without me, and she is in the good hands of Pablo and our fellow travellers. She will visit a nearby cloud forest, and see some lovely orchids, hummingbirds and butterflies. Nice !!
