This trip has been truly remarkable. We went from a dugout canoe to an airbus all in one morning. What an amazing world we live in !!
We said a heartfelt goodbye to Sani Lodge, knowing full well that we'd never be back. Luis jumped out of the motor boat when it pulled alongside his river home. We didn't get a chance to shake his hand. Our last sight of him was his smiling face waving goodbye, then scrambling up the riverbank to his home. We'll never forget him.
The short flight from Coca to Quito was unremarkable. We check into our 4 star hotel, disbelieving that we were in the jungle and on a wild river only hours before. Laundry, suitcase shopping, coffee and a good restaurant dinner somehow seem a bit hollow after Sani. But at least it's cool and less humid !!
